AOTM May - Draconian "In Somnolent Ruin"

I have to admit that I did not expect anything new from Draconian. I have known them for some years but somehow it seemed to me like the type of music (goth-metal with a combination of female voices and male growls) had long passed its best-before-date.

Yet, here came Draconian and changed my view. Their new album, although it is clearly a reference to the late 90s and early 2000s scene still sounds fresh and never gives off the “I heard this song 1000 times before” vibes that some releases do. To me, “In Somnolent Ruin” was a big surprise and an album I enjoyed and listened to quite a few times in May.
