AOTM February - Karnivool "In Verses"
In February, the album I enjoyed most was In Verses by Karnivool from Australia.
The album has everything I love in music: strong melodies, gloomy lyrics, the incredible voice of Ian Kenny, and a l![Image description]ot of musical detail. Many of those details do not reveal themselves on the first listen. In Verses is complex and intricate, yet always pleasant to listen to.
What really draws me in is the balance Karnivool manage to strike - between musical complexity, amazing melodies, and excellent songwriting. I constantly feel like there are still layers left to uncover, while never feeling overwhelmed by the songs themselves.
