About LLN

Hi. I am Ben.

LowLevelNoise is where the different layers of my life intersect: software and systems architecture, technology, culture, music, digital art—and the occasional personal thought that refuses to stay quiet.

Some of what you’ll find here may be helpful. Some of it may be entertaining. Some of it might challenge your perspective. If it does, that’s intentional. I welcome discussion—use the comments or reach out directly.

A few coordinates:

I work as a Principal Technical Consultant at virtual7 GmbH. Before that, I spent a decade building ML!PA Consulting GmbH.

My academic background is in Mathematics (Freie Universität Berlin), followed by a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the Zuse Institute Berlin, where I worked in the Computational Nano Optics Group.

I care about communities as much as code. I’m on the board of Datamonster e.V. and organize the Berlin Datamonster User Group. I’ve spoken at conferences in the past—and I plan to return to that habit.

Music is non-negotiable. I listen constantly, mostly metal, but not exclusively. I play bass and clarinet.

I’m a proud father. I shoot analog photography.

LowLevelNoise captures all of this. It’s technical. It’s musical. And sometimes, it’s personal.
